Embracing Human-AI Collaboration in Creative Expression

The field of human-computer interaction is witnessing a significant shift towards embracing human-AI collaboration in creative expression. Researchers are exploring innovative ways to design and develop AI-assisted tools that can facilitate personal affective physicalization, allowing individuals to express emotions through tangible forms. This collaboration is not limited to physical artifacts, but also extends to full-body motion tracking and real-time AI feedback, enabling new pathways for inclusive and ethical affective computing. Furthermore, the integration of AI in creative processes is being reimagined, with a focus on interpretable visual creativity, trait-aware co-creation, and embodied emotional AI. Noteworthy papers in this regard include: TraitSpaces, which introduces a framework for modeling visual creativity across four domains, and A(I)nimism, which explores how large language objects can mediate animistic relationships with everyday things. These developments highlight the potential for human-AI collaboration to redefine the boundaries of creative expression and emotional intelligence.
